The New York Rangers haven’t exactly been consistent this postseason, so trading blows with the New Jersey Devils wouldn’t necessarily be alarming. But after losing two games in a row, the Rangers have their backs against the wall, facing a real chance of elimination Friday night. They have given the Devils their best punches but trail 3-2 after a gut-punching loss in Game 5. The New York Rangers bounced back with a huge Game 3 win on Saturday, but head coach John Tortorella wasn’t in a celebrating mood afterwards. Complaining about the New Jersey Devils’ acting jobs on several penalty calls, Tortorella was calling foul after the game.

The Phoenix Coyotes haven’t had much of an answer for the Los Angeles Kings so far. No one has really. The Kings, in the midst of the greatest NHL Playoff run in league history, have made light work of every team they’ve faced this postseason, winning 10 of 11 games for a .909 winning percentage, and look to continue their dominance Thursday night.
If the Stanley Cup final goes according to plan, we’re in for a really nice match-up between to teams with completely different styles. The Los Angeles Kings are making light work of the Phoenix Coyotes in the west by pounding goaltender Mike Smith in each of the first two games.
