NHL Western Conference Final Betting Odds

While we wait for the Rangers/Capitals series to wrap up, it’s about time we start turning our attention to the western conference, where the outcome of the finals will provide a great storyline regardless. Either the Los Angeles Kings will complete an amazing run after squeaking into the playoffs as an eight seed, or the Phoenix Coyotes will win their first conference final in franchise history in a season that already saw them win their first division and finally get a buyer. 2012 NHL Awards Betting Odds

It’s awards time people. Just as the NHL Playoffs are still about two weeks away from wrapping up, it’s time to start projecting the winner of the league’s individual trophies for performances during the regular season. Huge performances in the playoffs by players like Henrik Lundgvist have done a lot to solidify our beliefs already, while other candidates are still trying to stay in memory.

Lundqvist has his team just a game away from reaching the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 1993-94 and is favored to go home with a handful of trophies in June. He’s became the first goaltender in franchise history to go seven-straight years with 30 or more wins, and is way due to win something. Continue reading

Henrik Lundqvist Headlines 2012 Vezina Trophy Betting Odds

The importance of a goaltender can’t be overlooked. All three of this year’s Vezina Trophy finalists made it to the conference semifinals, while Jonathan Quick and Henrik Lundqvist are favored to win their conferences. It would seemed destiny if it is so. All year it felt like a showdown between the two for the trophy, and it was only recently Pekka Rinne sneaked in the picture with a sparkling 43 wins in 72 games.

Lundgvist has slowly built himself into a consistent wall, Quick made more with less and Rinne had better stats than any of them. Continue reading

Calgary Flames Betting Odds Favor Big Changes in 2012-13

Calgary fans: start dumping your Jerome Iginla gear now.

If we are to believe Bovada’s Calgary Flames Futures Odds, he will be part of a sweeping change in the locker room where to Flames are hoping to erase the memory of another miserable season. The Flames have been stuck in a tough spot for a few years now, failing to reach the playoffs in three years under Darryl Sutter despite having a veteran lineup. But they weren’t bad enough to get any elite players in the NHL Draft.

After another disappointment in 2012, it looks like the team is ready to blow apart and start over again. After the team and Sutter reached a mutual agreement to cut ties, there has already been a through search for the new head coach. Troy Ward is the front runner to land the job at 7/4, according to Bovada, followed by Bob Hartley (5/2) and Craig MacTavish (6/1). Jacques Martin is the longshot at (15/1). Bill Boughner looks to be a dead bet at 9/1 after telling the Calgary Sun he isn’t likely to leave the OHL Windsor Spitfires. Continue reading

New Jersey Devils Betting Odds To Win Eastern Conference

The Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes have to hang tight until the Eastern Conference semifinals end, but that waiting period got cut way down Tuesday night. Avoiding a huge rally by the Philadelphia Flyers, the New Jersey Devils hung on two win their series 4-1 and became the first team to punch their ticket to the eastern finals.

It wouldn’t have been a shocker to see the series end in five, but for New Jersey to be the one advancing is just another curious twist to one of the craziest postseasons we’ve seen. The Flyers were heavy favorites to win the east after torturing the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round, but seemed way out of sync this series. Continue reading

New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals Game 6 Betting Odds

The New Jersey Devils already punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals last night, now the New York Rangers can join them for the first time since 1997. The Rangers look to close out their series against the Washington Capitals in Game 6 Wednesday night, and reach the conference championship for the first time in 15 years.

”We want to close it out and get this over with. It’s a lot easier said than done,” Rangers forward Brad Richards told the Associated Press. ”We want to be as desperate as they are.” Continue reading

NHL Western Conference Futures Favor Los Angeles Kings

While the Eastern Conference field is beating itself up, still with all four teams alive in the semifinals, the Western Conference wrapped up pretty nicely. The Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes seemed like the best teams all postseason long, and wasted little time dispatching their first two opponents in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now, they will decide which underdog will complete its miraculous run and reach the Stanley Cup championship.

The Kings, who have been favored for about a week now to win the Cup by Bovada’s Stanley Cup Futures, is the front runner to win the series, which will start when the Eastern semis wrap-up. They dispatched the conference’s top-two seeds in just nine games, and although Coyotes vs. Kings Betting Lines haven’t officially been rolled out, it’s clear oddsmakers like Los Angeles. New Jersey Devils vs. Philadelphia Flyers Game 5 Betting Lines

It seems like every playoff storyline this year has to do with suspensions, but Philadelphia’s may be a little more costly than usual.

All-Star Claude Giroux won’t be available to suit up for the Flyers Tuesday night as the team hopes to avoid elimination in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Giroux was suspended one game by the NHL for his illegal check to the head on New Jersey’s Dainius Zubrus in Game 4. Now the Flyers have to claw out of a 3-1 without their leading scorer in tow. Nashville Predators vs. Phoenix Coyotes Game 5 Betting Lines

The Los Angeles Kings already booked their date for the Western Conference finals over the weekend. Now the Phoenix Coyotes attempt to RSVP Monday night in Game 5 against the Nashville Predators.

The Coyotes are withouth defenseman Rostislav Klesla, who was suspended a game for boarding in Game 4, but that seems to matter very little right now. After dominating Game 4, Phoenix can close out the series at home, and continue a season that already saw it win its division for the first time ever. Now it can reach the finals for the first time in franchise history. Continue reading
